This horror-themed venue just off Times Square debuted in fall 2011, and is the only haunted house in New York open year-round. If you survive the “Hotel of Horrors” you can check out shock illusionist Dan Sperry’s disturbing Magic Show. Afterward calm your nerves with a drink in the Crypt Cafe.

Two words: tourist. trap. I don't know how this place stays open. I went through the haunted house bit with a groupon, and it was by far one of the worst haunted houses I've been to. (Which is disappointing because I usually LOVE haunted houses.) Very few actors in it and the "scares" were mostly them coming up in front of you and banging something. We also had to wait at least 20 minutes in line to go through the stupid thing, which took all of 3 minutes to experience.
My friend and I were going to kill some time (ha ha) at the restaurant inside, but it smelled so weird/strongly of stage smoke that we couldn't stay. They also seated us and then never came to get our order. The redeeming part is the bar upstairs (I think it's called "the kill bar.") The bar itself is made of tons of black skulls. The bartender was rude when I asked a question, but what can you do. They serve absinthe which is a plus for me.
