Time Out says

It’ll take you a while to get into this massive rooftop bar—not because of the door policy, but because of its popularity. Take in views of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings under shady umbrellas for sunny days, and beside space heaters on chilly nights. Tuck into a $29 brunch buffet from 10am–4pm on the weekends, and in winter, gather in pop-up igloos to protect your party outfit from the elements.

230 Fifth is definitely a tourist spot - but I've been both for a private event and on my own and you can't beat those views! The cocktails are expensive but well-made, in my opinion.

230 Fifth has become a popular tourist attraction. Went here for a friend's reunion and it's just one of those places that you must go at least once! It's rooftop is huge--enough to spoil you with the awesome views of Empire State Building that's literally on your backdrop.

I recommend that you come here during the day for the best photo-ops and expect nothing less than expensive cocktails (which covers for your selfies, btw). Lol! As for their menu, I'm not too crazy about it.

This is probably my favorite rooftop when it comes to providing customers with the best combination of good quality food (in small bites) and having strategic views of both the empire state and Chrysler buildings. I love all the seasonal decorations they display depending on the time of the year in which you visit. Their prices are moderate; however, if you visit during the colder months and decide to sip on a hot chocolate you will find yourself paying a little more than the standard cost. This is a great venue for people of all ages; I have visited with my mother and brother as well as with friends and on date nights. Igloos during the winter months make this a very unique place to have some outdoor fun while appreciating the city views. Ps. Their downstairs bar and lounge is spacious and features a DJ stand along with some very chic chairs where you can pose for some very memorable photos. I do not recommend visiting while college kids are venturing themselves out for Santacon as this place gets extremely packed.

230 Fifth is New York City’s largest outdoor rooftop garden and fully enclosed penthouse lounge. If you have out of town guests who you want to impress, take them straight here. The views are beyond breathtaking and cannot be competed with! They have large umbrellas for sunny or rainy days and the rooftop is partially heated on colder nights. The biggest attraction besides being directly under the Empire State Building are the awesome heated igloos that are around for the winter. The igloos are on a first come first serve basis, so you may have to wait or end up sharing with others.

In the winter: If I am going to be cold, then I want to be cold with a spiked hot cocoa in hand drinking inside an igloo at 230 Fifth. Try to get to the rooftop earlier so that you can grab a spot inside the igloos. If you're looking for a place to get a great instagram pic, stay festive, get tipsy, cuddle up in red robes and impress visiting family and friends, then this is your place!

This bar has a beautiful view, in both winter and summer! The igloos in the winter provide such a unique experience, that I would recommend trying it at least once.  The downside to this bar is the crowds, and drink prices. I would say go more for the experience, and less for the drink quality..

This rooftop is classy and beautiful. The view of the skyline is incredible. Inside the penthouse is a party vibe and outside on the roof is a chill vibe. The seasonal drinks are amazing. I tried the spiked apple cider and it tasted delicious! However, the drinks are on the pricey side.

You can't deny that this is a bit of a touristy spot, but when you get up there and the see the views of the city you understand exactly why everyone flocks there. I'd also say that it's a big enough space that it never feels too hectic and often all the people actually make for a great atmosphere. A decent cocktail menu of all the classics and an easy bar menu of light snacks means you can stay for a quick drink and take in the view, or settle in for the evening. Make sure you head round to the far left hand side up on the decking as you can also see the One World Trade tower and take in the sunset from there too, which sets over the Hudson River. A great spot to take friends, dates and parents! That view never gets old.

This place is pretty cool, mostly because the rooftop is so large and doesn't feel like an exclusive club that you need a gold ticket to get into to. I came here one day after work for a happy hour with some of co-workers, we got drinks, sliders, and fries which were all surprisingly good. There was no wait, besides the long elevator ride to get to the top and the vibe was pretty chill. Besides the super expensive drinks and the super chippery waitresses (like she was at our table every 10 minutes asking if we needed more drinks) this place is a perfect rooftop spot.

It also makes for a great instagram.

Excellent way to go on a awesome night, even if you have to delay ten minutes in line. The opinions of the town are awesome, such as the view of the Business State building. There are equivalent parts of beautiful individuals vs individuals who look/dress culturally uncomfortable and out of position. There are a lot of locations to sit, take a position or flow and 3 associated with sparkling wine cost $50....guess they might be making up for no cover charge. All in all an excellent way to individuals watch, consume and b. s. with guests.
