French natives Samie Didda and Germain Michel have brought their popular San Francisco wine bar to New York. The pair's heritage carries through to the 300-bottle wine list and small-plates menu, which features Gallic dishes like daube provençale (red-wine–braised lamb), steak tartare and Emmental-stuffed ravioli with truffle oil. Wine-bottle sconces light the 56-seat spot, which includes a wood coffee table and red epoxy-topped bar.

With daily happy hour specials ($12 flight of wine, $6 appetizers) from 4-7pm, a fantastic waitstaff that's attentive and accommodating, and delicious food, Amelie truly embodies the Parisian experience. Located a block away from Washington Square Park, this small and intimate restaurant is the perfect place for a first date - or really, any kind of date. The waiters here are extremely knowledgeable in their diverse list of wine, so do take their recommendations to heart. Some of my favorite items here are their Txakoli and Sancerre white, pistachio goat cheese (a must get) and smoked salmon crostinis. They take reservations, so do make sure you make one ASAP!
This French gem is a must try! Their free baguettes are enough to bring you in and keep you satisfied, then add their caramelized onion goat cheese appetizer or wine flight and you will never want to leave, especially with the best French staff around! Each staff member has curated their favorite wines into accessible flights, but they also let you create your own. They do get extremely busy right at 5pm, so make a reservation or get there right when they open and stay all night!
Fantastic food, wine, and hospitality. French flair and excellence without the attitude! My favorites are the Lamb chops, the trout, the ceviche, the bread, the escargot -- actually, everything on the menu. And....when you order something without salt or cream as I do, no problem at all. The staff is always interested in introducing it's patrons to wines well within a budget and never push a higher priced pour!
