Amity Hall

This bi-level beer hall in the West Village lives in a space that was once a cooperage—that is, a barrel manufacturer. Forty taps dispense mostly craft brews, including domestic and international picks like Chicago’s Goose Island IPA and Belgium’s Chimay Tripel. Or nurse a whiskey or winter cocktail beside one of Amity’s two working fireplaces. Look out for a variety of burgers on the food menu.

Your standard student dive bar; TV's everywhere and noisy but it is very big and spacious. The restaurant will also take reservations should you wish to. The chicken tenders are delicious...add barbecue sauce and a beer and you have all the items required for a good party! Good selection of beer; nice cocktails and decent wine. Good happy hours and they even have a trivia night.

If you’re within a few years of graduation and want an appropriate place to turn day drinking into night drinking while surrounded by UVA bros, look no further. My view on this place may be skewed because I experienced it during the blizzard this year, but it was a great time.

The bar itself has a ton of space for group seating and has a good tap selection. Plus if you’ve had one too many mimosa pitchers (or beer pitchers, choose your poison), the food is a step up from standard bar fare. Between the friendly service and the friendly crowd, you can't go wrong using this as a group watering hole.
