Ayza Wine and Chocolate Bar

There’s not much better than sipping wine while nibbling on a quality bar of chocolate, and Ayza Wine and Chocolate Bar has based their business off this perfect pairing. Try something off the restaurant’s extensive wine list, or choose from its wide selection of chocolate martinis, ranging from raspberry with chambord and kahlua, to almond with frangelico and a hazelnut truffle, to peppermint with creme de menthe (each $15). For dessert, Ayza not only offers cacao-themed desserts like chocolate pizza ($9) and fondue ($11), but also gourmet chocolate bars from the likes of Jacques Torres ($2.50) and Cioccolada($3). It’s not all sweets, either—diners can also choose from assorted cheese plates, charcuterie boards and tapas, or order off the full dinner menu. If you want it all—wine, cheese plates, tapas and chocolates—check out the group dining option, where $60 gives you access to a two-hour open bar and plenty of small plates.

If you want a high class feel in a cozy little spot, this is the place to go. And with so few quality bars in this neighborhood (although we were tempted by the oyster bar next door), Ayza is definitely worth a visit. My friends and I just kind of stumbled upon it, but I'm glad we did! After waiting 15 minutes on a Friday for a table in this tiny spot, we were thrilled with the impressive wine selection, but more importantly the impressive CHOCOLATE selection. I had chocolate cheesecake, which might have been the best I've ever had, the chocolate drizzle certainly was! With so many wines, you can definitely find something in your price range and pick and choose from their tapas or dessert menu, a lot or a little! Would definitely come back when the weather is nice to sit on their patio.

Chocolate AND wine?! Say no more. Although the name sounds pretty secluded to these two items, the selection is so much bigger than you'd expect. This bar has everything from tapas options, full entrees, to an array of wine, to chocolate cocktails, and dessert - and nothing disappoints. The chocolate cocktails are just what you'd imagine sipping from Willy Wonka's chocolate river (spiked with alcohol) would be. These cocktails even come with a little truffle on the side, a chocolate lover's dream! When I went with a few friends, we decided to split some tapas along with our drinks. Out of all 4 things we ordered, there was not one piece of food left on the plates, and I'll let that speak for itself. The atmosphere of this place is quaint and crowded. Definitely expect a wait if you don't have a reservation. Also, there's only one bathroom, which forms a line quickly, so be aware of that. Although I went here when it was cold out (the outdoor seating covered and adorned with heat lamps), I can imagine that this would be the perfect spot for a hot summer date night.

This place is amazing. From chicken lolipops to chocolate pizza, their unique menu will have you troubling to decide which 10 dishes you want to order. The music was perfect during the 3-6 happy hour. I heard they also offer great private parties, so I'm excited to check it out in the future

went here last Saturday night. got there about 9pm. was very busy. in hindsight we should have gone elsewhere, but we were tired of walking around. To begin, before we even sat down we were told the easily half the menu was unavailable. Our waitress started with ...OK we re out of the following.... Come on, really? Saturday night and a full reservation book and you are out of food at 9pm. The food that we settled on (charcuterie) was very good. The service was also very good.

The place has a great ambiance and a friendly staff. We ended up eating at the bar since they couldn't fit us in at a table and it was very enjoyable. Sea bass was awesome and everything else we got was really good. Very reasonably priced. A must if you are in the neighborhood.

There is really no way to describe the menu. There is no real theme to it. Don't get me wrong, I loved the scallop dish, the sides choices are of a great and healthy variety, and the striped bass and ginger quinoa are a favorite, but something about the menu just rubs me the wrong way. The salads and entrees don't present the restaurant as one clear picture. It's like a Picasso painting...a bunch of objects thrown together that may not interest some, but others find a strange appeal about it.

I had a great time here on a date. They offer wine and cheese plates. Michael, who poured our wines, was very friendly and we especially loved the dessert wine that ended our night. If you're looking for some great wine selections, and a friendly place to chill with friends and sip some vino, try Ayza.
