Endearing owner Reis Goldberg, who’s behind the bar most nights, has made all of the neighborhood’s diverse elements—yuppie newcomers, lifelong residents, artists, lesbians—happy together. Three levels ensure that there’s always a spot for quiet conversation as well as periodic jazz performances and poetry readings. Sit at the main-floor bar while you sort out the wine selections, or hit the pool table in the candlelit downstairs lounge. The backyard garden is open every day (weather permitting) until 11pm.
