The owner of East Village gay bar Eastern Bloc branches out with this hetero-friendly, Victorian-themed cocktail den. The decor references “curiosities” of the era, with anatomical textbook illustrations serving as wallpaper and taxidermied animal heads dotting the two-room space. Original cocktails include the Bedlam Cup, with Pimm’s, cucumbers, lemons and elderflower liqueur, and the Sagamore House (Maker’s Mark, cherry liqueur, bitters and Lillet Rouge).

I live on ave c so I'm always looking for good spots close by and Bedlam is one of them. The vibe is a little off though, its super dark, strangely decorated and the crowd is questionable, but the music is great for dancing and theres plenty of space to move around so in my book this place is great. I would only come here with a large group of people who can make their own good time.

Bedlam is cozy, kind of gross, and filled with lots of weird things (the color scheme is dark and moody, and it looks like old medical textbooks and miscellaneous taxidermies litter the walls). The couches and seats are actually quite comfortable, but can get a bit messy and unclean, and the crowd is young, fun and doesn't care much. There is room to mingle - though not a lot, the bathroom is clean enough, and the drinks are reasonable.
