Excelsior is one of the nicer gay bars in Brooklyn, and it’s a friendly, down-to-earth alternative to the Manhattan scene. Kylie Minogue is in the juke, but so is ’80s band Sisters of Mercy, plus a wide variety of current, often obscure artists like the Eels and Interpol. Things heat up on weekends as boys and girls from this borough and beyond show up to socialize. When it’s warm, a deck and a peaceful, roomy garden are open.

Oustanding venue. 3 different sections and outside seating. Upstairs dance area with live entertainment.

Always amazing. Staff always goes out of makes you feel like home. Truly a neighborhood gem and always welcoming. I look forward to their weekly (multiple) movie screening with the lovely Lailah!

Martin the bartender makes this place fun! He's always coming up with crazy theme nights and serves a mean drink.

Excelsior gets my vote for its great service, convenient location, diversity of clientele, reasonable prices, entertaining shows, community-minded owners, and JEOPARDY! happy hour :-)

It's a great bar! Martin Gonzalez is great Manager, and makes the environment so much fun!

I remember a time when there were no Gay bars in Park Slope, Excelsior was one of the first and still lives on! Great place, great company and great vibe!

Neighborhood staple, nice crowd, friendly owners and staff and it's always a good time. Haven't been to the new location yet; I hear it's superb.

A neighborhood gem! Truly, a bar where everybody knows your name. As noted in The New York Times, "the service is very friendly… bartenders will chat you up, whether you are new or a regular." And the party space upstairs features everything from live cabaret shows to screenings of "RuPaul's Drag Race," and is perfect for private parties. Um.... Been here for only 6 weeks and this bar has been nothing but home. I don't know if it's because the manager is from Texas or what, but the atmosphere, from the copper bar top (possibly) to the wood floors, this bar is the best local/neighborhood bar around. Small, easy going crowd, and exceptional hosting this bar is definitely one to stop by. Never, EVER, has a bartender given me a schedule so I can come back and visit them and the audience they bring!!! TeamMartin

This is one of the most welcoming and friendly bars that I've ever been to. I've been coming here for 10 years. I'm always surprised at how many people from across the world come to this bar on there trips here. Usually most wanna stick to Manhattan. If you want an awesome gay bar to come to where the bartenders and patrons are super friendly and the drinks are nice, strong, and well prepared. Or a cool bar to come to in general. Come on over to Excelsior. You'll love it!

Bar staff is so on point! And ideal area. Drinks are phenomenal and music will always be amazing ! Yasssss QUEENS!!!!

Great service and delicious drinks. Friendly, fun and diverse crowd. No attitude.

Excelsior has always been our home in Park Slope. More than just a place to hang out, Martin & staff have always made it feel like this is someplace where we belong.

It's a great local bar w great bartenders. Now in its new location on 5th and 15th. Bigger and better. Love this place.
