Anyone who considers the term tourist to be an epithet had better steer clear of this pub. The location and by-the-book Irish theme attract a Today show crop of out-of-towners. New Yorkers brave enough to overcome their prejudices will find weekend soccer broadcasts, a homey stone fireplace and a wonderful selection of tap beers, including Tetley’s English Ale and creamy Boddington’s.

Midtown bars get a terrible rap for being tourist hotbeds (and those complaining are not wrong), but what the midtown drinking scene does do absolutely right is soccer. Soccer fans in NYC are nearly always guaranteed a solid viewing experience in a neighborhood that we New Yorkers regularly scoff at. I just caught a Copa America 2016 semifinal game here at Dempsey's the other night and had a fantastic time! The bar was filled with a wonderfully passionate crowd, a great all around atmosphere to watch the game. Dempsey's beer selection is also fantastically comprehensive - I especially love their extensive list of Ommegang options!
