Belly dancers, flickering flames, hanging tapestries—Moroccan flourishes sure are fun. On the heels of other North African hot spots—Moomia, Casablanca Tea Room and Nomad—comes this bilevel Moroccan lounge, which has taken over the space that formerly housed the Bowery club Mission. Guests sit at low tables behind wooden sliding screens and sip cocktails made with exotic fruits, or snack on consulting chef Jonathan Lindenauer’s (Jean Georges, Taj) abbreviated menu. The place ain’t seriously smokin’ yet—they’re still waiting on the hookahs.

Katra hands down has the best party in town! I have gone here on many nights for many different occasions to either enjoy a night with friends, or to watch the game, and have never had any problems here. If you do go, I recommend getting here early because lines do tend to get really long, but the endgame is really worth it. You will dance for hours and not even realize it. The drinks and the hookah are second to none, you won't be disappointed.
