The warm, crimson-hued spot is one of the only bars in the city where you can slam a shot of unicum, a 200-year-old bittersweet spirit from Hungary (the owner’s homeland). If that doesn’t heat you up, settle by the fireplace to watch lovers flirt and to listen to locals gossip. Their shadows play on the wall among lanterns, candles and artwork. At midnight, the shades go down and the beats go up: Owner Attila Draviczki hits the decks and Madonna fades into electro-funky Mandalay.

Good atmosphere and a great owner. Fun twist on drink specials with 2for1 happy hour drink coupons that I save up and keep in my drawer at home in Florida. Whenever I pack my bags for NYC the coupons come with me!

My favorite place in NYC. Best lychees martinis, best Sunday happy hour - 2 for 1, best DJ and the owner Attila, who is trying to reestablish the underground club scene in NYC. Fantastic music, amazing guest djs from Europe, incredible atmosphere. The place is small and intimate, and the sound system is on point. I spent many nights dancing away at KeyBar

One of the few bars I call myself a regular at, Keybar offers a great happy hour that lasts long enough (4-10pm) for us working class folks to actually partake in. Their 2-for-1 happy hour is the perfect way to pregame before going out in East Village. This place does tend to fill up starting at around 7pm, so be prepared for a few elbows here and there. Along with a selection of interesting shots and beers, they also have some unique twist on classic cocktails. The prices will run anywhere from $8-12, which is fairly standard for Manhattan standards. And if you come here for your birthday, your group will get a free round of shots - a most excellent way to start your night!
