Tucked into the mezzanine level of the Time New York hotel, the LeGrande Lounge serves up small plates and specialty cocktails in a secluded setting. Order something off the beer or wine list, or go for a signature cocktail like the Gold Finch with vodka, cinnamon, cream and Stumptown cold brew or the Madame’s Choice with gin, honey, sage, lemon and earl grey tea (both $16). The bartenders will be happy to mix you a Moscow mule, negroni, Manhattan or another classic cocktail, too (all $15). The food options range from light bites like bruschetta ($9) to larger, shareable plates—think steak tacos with salsa verde ($20), honeyed truffle pecorino grilled cheese ($14) and fried chicken served with hot sauce and Brussels sprouts slaw ($16).

LeGrande is very okay at best. I generally try to avoid the near-midtown scene in the first place, but was here for a holiday event.

The place is quite small, and gets crowded very quickly. I will say that the decor was nice - plush, classy, lots of little alcoves to sit in.

Their cocktail menu is extremely varied and creative, which is nice-they have a smoked cocktail that's set on fire, which was cool. But the execution is sorely lacking, not to mention overpriced. If I'm paying $16 a cocktail, I'm expecting something enjoyable - my Madam's Choice was SO sweet and syrupy I couldn't finish it. They do have drinkable champagne, if you're feeling celebratory.

I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but its not a bad choice if you've just finished up a show in the area.
