I'm pleased to see that this is a "critic's pick" because this everyday bar offers nothing special, yet is a Brooklyn Heights gem.  Casual, friendly and cheap, Roebling has one of the best events for locals: trivia!  On the second and fourth Tuesday of every month come to Roebling at 8p for four rounds of hilarious trivia with a maximum team size of five people.

The food is an afterthought; one of those places that only serves it because NYC requires bars to sell food.  But there are plenty of great places nearby and the staff at Roebling doesn't mind if you bring food in (I recommend Table 87 Coal Oven Pizza from next door).
