Rue B

You know how some places just make everyone look better? Rue B is like that. Silver-blue banquettes line the walls, candles illuminate the polished-zinc tables, and photographs of jazz icons oversee the action (which includes nightly live music). Drinks are mixed with fresh-squeezed juice—the apple martini is made with Stoli, fresh apples and a touch of syrup—and they slide down all too easily. Draft beers include Guinness, Brooklyn Pennant and Brooklyn Pilsner, along with sangria and sake, are also available. May as well tuck into some of the tasty nibbles on offer; you’ll be here awhile.

Small, cozy jazz bar in the heart of Alphabet City...this place is a gem.  They have happy hour specials, Monday-Friday, 5-8, and Saturday-Sunday, 4-8.  You get transported in time as soon as you walk in.  The walls are covered with vintage photos of musicians, actors and Hollywood's best.  Every seat is the best seat in the house.  Try the Strawberry Patch cocktail -vodka, muddled strawberries, lemon juice, and seltzer.  You'll want to come back here...I promise!

Lovely warm lighting, live jazz music, cozy booths, a full bar offering fun cocktails (try anything with vodka and muddled strawberries in the summer), a substantial menu of snacks and small plates (artichoke dip, please)—what's not to like? Oh, and the cheap brunch specials too. There's always a good crowd and fun vibe. Not just on weekends, the live music tucked into the corner of the bar (a piano plus an accompaniment of some kind) keeps the place lively and feeling like a little bar down a Parisian alleyway. It's a great place for a first date, second date or 1,000th date.
