Instead of a leering crowd, the vanilla version of a strip club gets bachelorette parties, curious couples and a few balding men. On the small center stage, ladies with silicone makeovers shimmy out of their dresses for the last 30 seconds of each song. Pricey private rooms aren’t much racier, due to the “dollar-bill” rule: There must be at least six inches (the length of a dollar bill) between dancers and customers. Conversation with a dancer costs $400 an hour; weak, supersweet drinks run $15 to $20 a pop. And for what? The whole scene is a buzzkill.
