Time Out says

Karaoke fans can head to either fo the two East Village locations of this sing-along bar (the other is at 81 Ave A), but our pick goes to the St. Marks location. Though Sing Sing offers private rooms, the best option here might be the public bar area, which for our money is the best place in the city to embarrass yourself while belting out ’80s classics in front of friendly, inebriated strangers.

My friends know of a habit of mine they either love or hate, depending on your opinion of karaoke. If I ever have a few drinks in me and the group is wondering what to do next, I will always say, "Let's get a room at Sing Sing!" This place gets packed on weekends, but if you go early or late enough, you can get a private room with your friends for $8 per person per hour, plus pitchers delivered right to your room. Amazing selection of songs, patient servers, a crowd that's fun in the bar area where anyone can put in a song for a dollar. It's a drunken paradise for anyone who likes to pretend they're a star for three minutes, like me!
