I came here for the first time during Santacon, and had a great time. Unfortunately the bathrooms are small, and usually have a long line. It also seemed as though they let more people than capacity in, so it was snug. There are two floors, and the drinks are moderate NYC prices. My biggest turn off of this bar, was the attitude of the bartenders. I watched a bartender tear up a dollar, because he wanted more than a $1 tip.
This East Village bar is a snug place to sit back and have a few pints. Although it looks small from the outside, Solas actually covers 2 floors, although the upstairs is frequently rented out for private parties. If you come for drinks post work, the dim lighting and background music are a pleasant way to end your day. This crowd usually files out around 830-900 where a much younger crowd shuffles in. There are areas to dance both upstairs and downstairs, with bars on both floors. Occasionally during the winter, they have a warm pot of stew cooking to assist you with the chill. Drink prices tend to get a bit pricey if you stray away from beer and wine.
