Spring Lounge
Part dive bar, part after-work hangout, Spring Lounge is the kind of place where you need never drink alone. The liquor’s been flowing on this corner since the 1920s; the wooden tables and benches reek of whiskey, hops and malt. Weeknights draw all types, but come weekends, a swarm of loud, aggressive singles takes over.

This is a cool little bar nestled into Soho. Came here after stopping by a too-crowded Mother's Ruin and found this place to be a lot more fun and not nearly as crowded. Will have to come back for the free hot dogs in the near future!


FREE HOT DOGS! Get your attention? Same. This happy hour / dive bar is the perfect mix of grime, cheap drinks and good location to bring in an interesting crowd. I'm never sure what type of night I'll have when I go there, but it is guaranteed to be interesting and I'll likely talk to total strangers. 

And, yeah, there's free hot dogs on week nights. Weird but sometimes a good move after a classic "went for happy hour, haven't eaten and somehow it's 10pm" kind of night.  

That's a nice spot for a pregame drink in soho, atmosphere is crowded and noisy but drinks are cheap and you can expect some surprises!

A cool, relaxed bar without much fuss. Considering the area is filled with trendy, expensive bars, this one stands out by being a bit more laid back and cheap! I was there on a Sunday and unfortunately a very rowdy group sat next to us, which made it quite hard to hear my friends speaking. However, I think this was just the luck of the draw and being a Sunday, maybe our ears were just a little more sensitive! The staff are friendly and the general atmosphere is mostly pretty chilled, but still with a fun vibe. The décor is kind of a cross between a typical dive bar and an English church with wooden tables and church pews as benches. I enjoyed coming here and would definitely come back.


My favorite "dive bar" in the heart of NoLita is Spring Lounge. It's a no frills drinking bar with an admirable beer selection and locals-only feel. The back room provides some relief from the bustling bar area on weekends but every Friday or Saturday night I've walked in, it's been a full, lively place. Bartenders are attentive and friendly. Only down side is a rundown old bathroom that could make a phone booth feel roomy, but that's my only complaint. Other bars around the area may have a more pretentious or upscale feel, but if you're in the mood for beers with the guys or meeting some new people, Spring Lounge is a good spot.
