From the folk behind the stylish basement bar, Up & Up in Greenwich Village, comes this swanky cocktail joint. Looking north up to Rose Hill/Gramercy, you'll find the tro black and gold beauty that is Stay Gold. Similar to The Up & Up, Stay old is filled with sumptuous teak wood, wallpaper prints that'd make William Morris swoon, and suitably retro cocktails (Gold Fashioned, Bye Birdy, Disco Volante…).
Of these eminently drinkable concoctions, there are classics wth a modern twist, as well as new fangled mixes. Wrap your tastebuds around a blast of tequila with habanero pepper, or dabble in a mezcal/campari, and a bourbon with ginger and IPA. Make the most of your money by visiting during happy hour, which runs 5-8pm daily.
Once you've worked up an appetite, cast an eye over the food menu, which features chunky items to fill you up, like grilled cheese sandwiches and burgers. Alternatively, settle on something light like togarashi (Japanese seasoning) spiced popcorn or Brussels sprouts with palm sugar and Fresno chilli (trust us on this one).
