The Abbey Pub
Throwing down a pint at this neighborhood joint is almost a religious experience, thanks to the stained-glass windows and pews that double as seating. (A nearby Lutheran church closed back in ’69, and auctioned off many of the artifacts that you now see here.) Ponder the meaning of life over one of eight beers on tap, including seasonal Harpoon Summer, a light, hoppy ale.

first of all, the place is not clean. filthy is more accurate. second, whether it's the bartenders or the wait staff, the attitude is terrible. in particular they love to ambush a party of four+ visiting from europe or other faraway places and stick a 20%+ tip on the tab after treating them like dirt. if you come with a date and have a burger and then want to hang out for awhile sipping on your brewskies watching a game, forget it. you will be given the bum's rush. zero hospitality. the regulars are drooling neighborhood drunks who haven't changed their underwear in 10 years.
