Dangling chandeliers, pressed-tin ceilings and a fireplace decorate this Victorian-inspired spot. On weekends, a 25-and-up policy keeps out the young'uns; cozy up with a date on the red velvet couches or chat with pals over rounds of draft beers (Harpoon IPA, Coney Island Lager) and mixed drinks.

Auction House is certainly an Upper East Side secret.  It's tucked away on 89th street and doesn't look like much from the outside which tends to keep a lot of people away.  That's a good thing though!  Inside you have a romantic set-up perfect for cocktails with your date.  The drink menu and offering isn't anything out of the ordinary, but you're there for the ambiance.  It should be noted, it's 25+ on Friday and Saturday nights.  So plan accordingly.

The Upper East Side definitely isn't lacking in sports bars that draw in the rowdy, spirited, 20 - somethings. Once you out grow that scene, and don't feel like making the trek downtown, have a more adult drinking experience at the ultra-sophisticated, sexy Auction House. Dim lighting, exposed brick, velvet drapes, plush couches, and antique paintings set the perfect scene for a romantic date or small group. The staff are attentive and friendly making average priced tasty drinks. In my opinion most of the watering holes in the area don’t stand out, but the Auction House is in a class by itself.
