Literary hounds will take comfort in this throwback Clinton Hill bar, outfitted with black banquettes, illuminated cabinetry and Walker Evans prints. Choose from ten beers on tap, including local favorites like Kelso IPA, Sixpoint Sweet Action and Original Sin Cider, or a small selection of poetry-inspired cocktails such as the Emerson (gin, sweet vermouth, fresh lime juice, maraschino liqueur) and the Sir Walter Scott (brandy, light rum, triple sec, grenadine, fresh lime juice). Patrons can also order from a selection of grilled cheeses and Niman Ranch hot dogs, accompanied by locally produced condiments like Mother-in-Law's kimchi and SchoolHouse Kitchen mustard.

My return trips to NYC Begin and end here I love this place. Great vibes n lovely art work keeps me coming back everytime
Home away from home, basically. Ice cold beer, magical cocktails, meaningful conversation, and the good music.
It's almost absurd how comfortable it is to hang out at The Emerson. There is a broad spectrum of people who go to The Emerson but they all seem to share one thing in common: genuine friendliness. I don't know what makes it this way but it's just so easy to relax and meet people and have enjoyable conversations there. The staff is outstanding, there're solid live bands and djs there many nights, and if you like to play pool, there's that too.
Beautiful bar, wonderfully welcoming atmosphere, great music, gorgeous backyard, pool table, good vibes, friendly faces...what more can you ask??? :)
