Time Out New York just gave the Pool a five-star review, and now Major Food Group officially unveils the bar within the restaurant. For MFG’s first boozy opening since ZZ’s Clam Bar, the team put Thomas Waugh (Death & Co., Maison Premiere) behind the 75-seat mezzanine bar to craft “poolside-inspired” cocktails mixed with summery ingredients. The drinks are plainly named after fruits, such as Grape (pisco, elderflower liqueur, Concord grape jelly, and muddled grapes with frozen grapes atop) and Peach (in-house peach puree, gin, Jamaican rum, crème de pêche, orange bitters and a peach-wedge garnish). Small seafood plates from chef Rich Torrisi, including caviar service and toasts, accompany the cocktails.
