Globetrotters who don’t currently have the funds for an overseas trip can indulge their wanderlust at Travel Bar, a neighborhood watering hole in Carroll Gardens. The owners’ love of travel pops up in the cocktail menu. You’ll find signature drinks like the Europass, a combination of gin, rose liqueur and Cappelletti Aperitivo, or the Coast to Coast, a vodka drink featuring bittersweet vermouth from Oregon and olives (both $12). Even the classic cocktails lean international, with La Paloma—tequila, lime, grapefruit juice and club soda, for those uninitiated—and the Aperol Spritz ($11 and $12, respectively). The bartenders can also mix up six varieties of the Manhattan (all $12) or advise you on which of the bar’s 180 whiskeys to sample. Need a snack? Mix and match from Travel Bar’s selection of artisanal meats and cheeses to create your ultimate charcuterie board ($20 for three items, $33 for five items, $45 for eight items).
