Union Pool
The former pool-supply outlet now supplies booze to scruffy Williamsburgers, who pack the tin-walled main room’s half-moon booths and snap saucy photo-kiosk pics. Bands strum away on the adjacent stage, while a spacious courtyard is packed with wooden benches to lure chain-smokers. Arrive early to kick back $3 PBRs or $7 Jack-and-Cokes (a buck off from 5 to 8pm).

This is a great spot to bring a really large group of friends, especially in summer when it's way too hot to hang out in somebody's apartment.  The taco truck is great - they're not the most amazing tacos, but when you're in the middle of a night out and you suddenly want tacos - isn't it great that they're already close by? The whole area feels like you've left NYC, but the people-watching is great and is some of the best in the borough.  I'm counting down the days until summer, because then I can come back here!

Oh, Union Pool. It's a great place to go when you're really in the mood for socializing and meeting new people. I don't think I've ever left without talking to someone new. The place has a large outdoor area that always has a crowd, and there's a taco truck outside for when you get hungry. Can be a bit of a shit show sometimes, but it's fun.

The Diet Coke @ Union Pool is quite excellent. The perfect balance of carbonation and syrup is an orgasm to my taste buds and I greatly appreciate the fact that they refill my beverage for free.

Union pool has an outside courtyard with a taco truck and bonfire which is great for me and my fellow smokers who also enjoy a reasonably priced Mexican cuisine. The only problem I have with Union Pool is that the smell of the bonfire gives me flashbacks to my teenage years of drinking in the woods.

This is not a good scenario for me because I was a fat kid in those days and I resort to exactly that. Which pretty much eliminates any chance of me getting laid or even getting the courage to have a conversation with some the fine hipster tail that frequents this establishment.

If the girls I went to high school with would have saw me for my inner beauty and not a fat insecure mumbling derelict, Union pool would be the perfect bar for me.
