Black Lives Matter Art Show 266 W 37th St; noon; free
Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, a local artist is taking a creative stance in order to expand awareness and generate discussions on the movement. This free art showcase, curated by Carla Cubit of Occupy Art, includes her visionary mixed media assemblage pieces as well as posters and photographs she took during recent protests in NYC. Folks are welcome to enjoy performances by Cubit and a guest speaker from the Stop Mass Incarceration Network. Attendees can express their emotions by getting crafty, and they can create their very own Black Lives Matter–inspired artwork with art materials provided

The “Him” to Zooey Deschanel’s “She” in the indie band She & Him as well as Portland, Oregon, singer-songwriter, M. Ward has made a long career out of being a 21st-century Roy Orbison, penning classy doo-wop–inspired folk and rock songs for the past 15 years. Tonight he is joined by Margaret Glaspy for back-to-back sets at Damrosch Park for the concert series Lincoln Center Out of Doors.
Deftones + Refused Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island; 7pm; $43.75
Deftones play the new Coney Island Amphitheater in support of their outstanding new release Gore. The moody Sacramento alt-metal titans have proven remarkably resilient, outpacing their mid-’90s contemporaries with a series of increasingly rich albums. Joining the band is arty Swedish hardcore crew Refused, which returns to the stage after a second reunion. (Back in 2006, the band released a 2006 DVD, Refused Are Fucking Dead, which seemed about as definitive a breakup statement as you'd ever read. But as we've all come to learn, such things are relative these days.)

Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival Flushing Meadows–Corona Park; 10:15am; free
Travel to beautiful Hong Kong without ever leaving the city thanks to this annual event at Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, now in it’s 26th year. Around 180 teams gather at the lake to race on long boats while paddling to the beat of their boat’s drummer at this culture fest inspired by Chinese tradition. On land, you can join in on the fun with music and dance performances, martial arts demonstrations and food-court vendors selling Asian cuisine like steamed dumplings, pork-belly buns and frozen delights such as Sno Biz shaved ice.

Start polishing your wands, people! The biggest event for witches and wizards is here. Original Harry Potter fans might have grown up, but that doesn’t mean they have to act like it. PotterCon brings magic lovers together at Irving Plaza for a day of childish fun, including Butterbeer, costume contests and trivia. Enjoy Hogwarts-inspired activities including a live sorting with the infamous Sorting Hat, a House Cup trivia tournament and a photo booth in front of Diagon Alley’s entrance with Potter-tastic props.

For this three-Saturday event, nearly seven miles of NYC turf is cleared of vehicles, creating a pedestrian paradise complete with food and entertainment. This year’s edition offers a rock-climbing wall, a 30-foot zip line and outdoor art installations, misting stations and hammocks for lounging.
Tinder Live! with Lane Moore The Bell House; 8pm; $15
Comedian, writer and musician Moore takes the stage to show off her Tinder profile, swipe left, message guys that pique her (and the audience's) interest and even call them live. This month's edition features fellow comics Dan Chamberlain, Blair Socci, Alice Bradley, Chloe Angyal and Awkwafina.
O.A.R. Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island; 7pm; $25.50
Indie-college-radio-crew-turned-chart-topping-almost-jam-band-but-not-quite O.A.R. brings its mainstream pop-rock to Coney Island for a tour both celebrating its 20th anniversary and previewing its upcoming album XX. Expect sheeny ska-rock arrangements, bouncy horns and rock gee-tars.

This popular outdoor concert return to Pier 97 at 59th Street with free, soulful performances and comfort food favorites along the picturesque Hudson River waterfront. This year, hear from the likes of long-time "soul man" William Bell, who began recording for Stax Records in 1961, along with storied New Orleans bass player George Porter, Jr. & Runnin' Pardners and up-and-coming Brooklyn-based producer-composer Taylor McFerrin. On offer to quench your thirst will be offerings from Blue Point Brewing Company, Southern Tier Brewing Co. and Austin Eastciders.

Talented character actor and cabaret comic Roslyn Hart plays "sexual psychologist" Dr. Alex Schiller in this interactive bash. The doctor’s goal: getting the audience in the mood with a few choice tunes and making sure all the single people in the audience hook up.

The sun is finally out and teasing you to get out and have some fun! Justin Carter, an avant-garde DJ-composer, and Eamon Harkin, with a flare for Detroit techno, know how to get a party started. This year, the weekly Mister Sunday summer series moves from its previous Industry City location to the outdoor bar-meets-restaurant venue, Nowadays, located on the edge of Bushwick. There’ll be plenty to eat from with Country Boys Taqueria and Nowadays’ vegan and veggie-friendly kitchen, some fresh, locally brewed beer and sangria, sodas from Brooklyn Soda Works and no restrictions on dogs or kids!
