It looks like longtime East Village record store Sounds, one of the last hold-outs on what was once a music-shop-heavy block of St. Mark's, is finally closing. The shop has been rumored to shutter since last year, and according to E.V. Grieve Sounds is holding its final closing sale right now. You can stop by to pay your respects, but judging by the photos there isn't much left. Luckily some of the best record stores in NYC are within walking distance: Empty your wallets at Kim'sOther Music, Good Records, A-1 Record Shop and Academy Records, and knock on wood that they'll be all be around for a very long time.
