A presidential debate could be coming to Brooklyn

Don’t run and lock yourself in your apartment quite yet. The debate would be between the candidates running for president on the Democratic side not the squabbling cartoon villains vying for the Republican mantle. Besides, we doubt they’d be comfortable surrounded by hordes of people with New York values.

The Sanders Campaign has challenged Hillary Clinton to a debate in Kings County that would potentially take place on April 14. Clinton has yet to agree, but she did put forward her own suggestion for a debate on March 8. That face-off would take place in Flint, Michigan and highlight the water crisis there. For his part, Martin O’Malley released an official statement saying, “Sure, cool. I’m down for whatever, you guys."

Currently, Sanders has committed to the Flint debate, but only if Clinton is willing to battle it out in Brooklyn. If she does agree, she wouldn’t have to travel far. The former Secretary of State’s campaign headquarters is located in the borough. Senator Sanders has his own ties to the area having grown up in Midwood and attended Brooklyn College for a year.

In any case, if there is a BK debate, tickets will probably be harder to come by than Hamilton. But, hey, you could maybe end up running into a presidential candidate at Casette?
