We don’t know about you, but we’re raring for fall, especially after a downright sweltering summer in New York. And it’s still not over yet. (Not that we’re complaining…much.)

But if there’s one autumn-esque event we’re looking forward to the most next month, it’s Oktoberfest. There will be many Oktoberfest-related events taking place in all five boroughs, but the mac daddy of celebrations takes place in Central Park.

Get ready to strap on those lederhosen—really, people will be wearing them—and head to the German wonderland once it rolls into town September 17. You can expect a display of intricate Karneval costumes and the cheerful Austrian tunes during New York’s Steuben Parade, and then quench your thirst with pitchers of Bavarian brews (Hofbräu, Erdinger), and cheers to lively sets from Spitze! and the Polka Brothers.

The only downside is that presale tickets already sold out (omigod), but luckily, more tickets (about 500) drop September 12, so get ready to pounce! Check the event page's website to purchase around then.

Central Park, Rumsey Playfield, enter at Fifth Ave and E 72nd St. Sept 17 1:30–7:30pm; $30, VIP $136.
