What better way to celebrate your birthday than throw a huge bash on West 42nd Street, invite your friends and whole lot of strangers, and stock the playlist with your greatest hits? That’s how Stephen Sondheim rolls. America’s Greatest Living Broadway Legend turns 85 this Sunday and he will be feted with an 8pm concert that features the talents of Billy Magnussen, Lilla Crawford, Rufus Wainwright, Norm Lewis, Constantine Maroulis, Tituss Burgess, Karen Ziemba, Chip Zien, Molly Pope and others. The party is also pegged to the March 24 DVD release of Disney’s movie adaptation of Into the Woods, which we loved. The cabaret extravaganza, presented by Jacob Langfelder, will “honor Sondheim and celebrate the journey of Woods from stage to screen.” Performances will include music from Woods and other Sondheim classics.

And now, Time Out readers can make the pilgrimage to honor Saint Stephen. The first 20 readers to RSVP via e-mail get a party pass (single ticket only). Make sure you put Time Out NY RSVP in the subject line. The event is free, but ticketed, so attendees have to be confirmed in order to attend. There will be a list at the door. Otherwise, you enter a lottery to attend here.
