We all know and love the New York cheesecake, but now Gotham is getting its own outpost of valve-clogging cheesecake titan the Cheesecake Factory, smack in the middle of Elmhurst's Queens Center Mall. That's right, just as the city undergoes a health food revolution of veggie burgers, acaí bowls and what not, the beloved chain seeks to upend all of that with its over 250-item tome of thousand-calorie offerings.
According to the Queens Courier, the restaurant will open this winter (no specific date yet), with an estimated 180 seats indoors and an additional 48 outside. Unlike many similar suburban mall chains, Cheesecake Factory actually prepares all its food on-site, from salad bowls to its somewhat questionable avocado egg rolls and actually-pretty-tasty pastas.
