Earth Day is coming up, and to celebrate, Uber wants you to cut down on carbon emissions and carpool! That's why the company is offering $5 flat-rate rides for anyone using UberPOOL to start and end a ride below 125th street in Manhattan. The promotion starts tomorrow, Apr 22, at 10am and ends at midnight on Sunday.
"To celebrate Earth Day, Uber wants to make it even more affordable to reduce congestion when getting around," says New York City General Manager Josh Mohrer. And indeed we shall, as many New Yorkers already made evident by using the $5 flat-rate borough-to-borough offer along the defunct L-train this past weekend. That offer also continues on weekends through May 18, so take advantage, dear ones.
To use UberPOOL, open your Uber app and toggle on the bottom to UberPOOL, enter your pick-up and dropoff locations, then request a ride—you may be paired up with 1-2 people heading the same direction as you, but even if you're not, the $5 ride is still yours. Wish any new friends you might meet a very happy Earth Day!
