Sure, you can get your cup of coffee and a scone at your local café, but how about a cuppa tea and a purring kitty on your lap instead?

At Little Lions, the latest cat café to open in Manhattan, all the cats are adoptable through Best Friends Animal Society and ready to take home—they're all vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped. So if little Snowball is melting your heart, she's all yours. It’s $11 an hour to chill with the cats, which is pretty cheap cat therapy when you think about it.

Ideally, you’ll make a reservation to visit the comfortable cat sanctuary, which has room for 25 humans, but there may be room for drop-ins too. You can bring tea and treats over from the adjoining tea lounge, but if you’re allergic and you like looking at cats from afar, you can just visit the lounge for free, have some tea and call it a day.

The menu is focused on tea, available by the cup or pot, and coffee drinkers can order a cup of drip. The menu has all kinds of teatime friendly baked goods, like scones, croissants, cookies, pumpkin bread and Danishes.

Open 8am–8pm (the cat sanctuary is open 10am–8pm), you can book online or call 646-484-6250. If you’re curious about New York’s other cat cafés, you can read about them here.
