Love it or hate it, winter in NYC is in full swing. Embrace the coldest time of year next Friday and Saturday, Jan 30–Jan 31, with the 1st Annual Winter Carnival at Bryant Park, part of the Bank of America Winter Village. It's a free, two-day event for you and your frosty-hearted friends to warm up to some of the best things about the season; a.k.a hot chocolate, winter brews and ice skating and curling lessons. You heard right—free curling lessons for all! Whether all agree if curling is actually a sport or not is another story.

The Winter Village Ice rink will be transformed into not only a curling sheet, but also a hockey rink and an icy golf course. The carnival opens up on Friday in the best possible way: with an outdoor winter brew house which includes an amber Belgium ale called Palm, German lagers Radeberger, Tucher and Captain’s Koisch (made in New York), plus the Texan beer, Shiner Bock. The night closes out with a skate party. Come Saturday there will be an all ages, silent disco from 7pm–10pm. Munchkins can get in on the fun, too, with a kid-friendly silent disco from 3pm–5pm.

See, winter's not so frigid afterall. Now, get ready to really to "chill" at these fun and frosty affairs.
