This October, TV toque Carla Hall (The Chew, Top Chef) heads to New York City to open her very first restaurant, taking over the former Whiskey Soda Lounge space in Cobble Hill. The eponymous Carla Hall's Southern Kitchen—which garnered a whopping $264,703 via a Kickstarter campaign—will turn out skillet-fried, cayenne-spiced Nashville hot bird using a recipe inspired by the chef's grandmother.

Those eager for an early taste of the fiery fried chicken can head to Root & Bone on September 9th, where Hall will host an exclusive pop-up preview with fellow former Top Chef-testants Janine Booth and Jeff McInnis, the latter her erstwhile castmate from season 5. Your $60 ticket gets you four gut-sticking courses of comfort foods like tomato salad tossed with fried pimento cheese and deviled eggs, and battered bird two ways—sweet-tea-brined from Booth and McInnis, and Nashville-style from Hall. In Southern fashion, desserts like creamy banana pudding round out the offerings.

Check out the full menu and buy tickets here (don't wait—they're going fast).
