If you enjoy boat-bound boozing and floating bars like Frying Pan in Chelsea and Grand Banks in Tribeca, you’ll love the new watering hole—that just so happens to be on the water—opening in Brooklyn.

We heard Brooklyn Barge Bar was coming to Greenpoint back in February, with the promise of a May 1 opening. So, what’s the hold up? Apparently the owners struggled with the local Community Board to obtain a liquor license, but thanks to encouraging letters from partners and the community, the floating bar-restaurant is officially allowed to serve booze!

Unlike your run-of-the-mill bars, Brooklyn Barge will offer cool water-based programs in the form of fishing, sailing, kayaking and more. And now that the ball is finally rolling, we’re hoping that the tentative mid-June opening is legit. 1 West St at Greenpoint Ave, Brooklyn (914-356-6809, brookylnbargebar.com).
