If you’re craving a little refinement in your life but you’re dealing with the budget of a plebeian, read on for arty events that will leave you feeling enchanté. (Psst…they’re all free!)

Troilus and Cressida 
Shakespeare in the Park is back, and is once again bringing professional theater to the masses. The day of each performance, you can wait on line for free tickets to this summer’s second production, Troilus and Cressida, a love story and tragedy. Not-so-spoiler alert: Someone dies.
The Delacorte Theater, enter at Central Park West and 81st St (publictheater.org). Tue 19–Aug 14; various dates at 8pm.

Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital Series
This free opera presentation features the season’s rising stars under the stars. The final concert in the Summer Recital Series features Michelle Bradley (soprano), Kang Wang (tenor) and Yunpeng Wang (baritone) singing a collection of arias and duets accompanied by pianist Dan Saunders.

Lincoln Center Out of Doors 
For three weeks, attendees can soak in global music, dance performances and spoken word on the plazas of Lincoln Center. Not to be missed: the 50th Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra (July 22 at 7:30pm) and Manhattan Camerata’s Tango Fado Project (August 3 at 7pm) featurinag the mesmerizing voice of Nathalie Pires.

The Triplets of Belleville 
Spend a night in the park watching this Oscar-nominated animated film with a little something extra: The score is performed by a live orchestra and Paris-raised singer-songwriter Jessica Fichot. Follow the enormous dog Bruno and a troupe of vaudeville sisters on a delightful musical romp through the streets of Belleville, Paris, in search of a missing boy—you may find yourself singing along.
