Look for a Billie Holiday hologram at the Apollo Theater later this year

The future is now: Billie Holiday, who holds a storied history with the Apollo Theater where she got her start, returns to the famed New York venue for a posthumous show...as a hologram? Joining the ranks of recently digitally resurrected artists—a list which includes Ol' Dirty Bastard, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley—Lady Day will be recreated as part of the venue's historical and educational daytime programming later this year. Partnering with Hologram USA (the company which brought a virtual Tupac Shakur to the Coachella stage back in 2012 to the awe of some and sheer terror of others), the Apollo plans to utilize the state-of-the-art technology on a continuing basis with future presentations.
