Each week, we take two New Yorkers who swear they're totally undateable, and put our matchmaking skills to the test. Afterward, we find out what went well on their date, and what went horribly, horribly wrong.

The date: Appetizer and drinks at Bricolage (162 Fifth Ave, 718-230-1835)

First impression
Kenneth: “When I got there, she was sitting at the bar. She was wearing a leather biker jacket, which was pretty awesome. She had a good vibe and was nice and cordial
Amanda: “He seemed in shock that he was actually doing this, like, ‘Oh, my gosh, this is so insane.’ It made me really uneasy that he was so uneasy. Not a good start.”

Chemistry
Kenneth: “At first, it was awkward because we were meeting in kind of a contrived setting. But we both work in media, so it was really easy to relate and have a conversation.”
Amanda: “The only time it got a little exciting was when we landed on the topic of porn GIFs—at least that was fun to talk about. Outside of that, there was no chemistry in any way.”

Afterward
Kenneth: “Before we parted ways, we hugged and exchanged numbers but mostly just because we live in the same neighborhood and it’d be cool to have a friend nearby.”
Amanda: “We exchanged numbers outside the restaurant. I initiated it just to be friendly and because he’s a photographer, so it might be a good professional connection.”

Awkward Moment
Kenneth: “It was really funny that all the waitstaff were in on the situation. I felt like I was on some reality show or something, since everyone was being overly attentive.”
Amanda: “I’ve been on a lot of dates but never one this awkward. I wanted to see where it was going, but it was going nowhere. We never got over how strange it was.”

The other person in three words
Kenneth: "Positive, Easygoing, Relaxed."
Amanda: "No dietary restrictions."

Verdict
Kenneth: ♥♥♥♥♥ “It was better than I expected. I’d like to keep in touch, but it was definitely friend vibes. If I can make a cool friend out of this, then that’s awesome.”
Amanda: ♥♥ “He’s a nice guy but just not my cup of tea. It definitely got me out of my comfort zone, though, which I think is always good.”
