Meet the Undateables: Aubrey & Morgan

Each week, we take two New Yorkers who swear they're totally undateable, and put our matchmaking skills to the test. Afterward, we find out what went well on their date, and what went horribly, horribly wrong.

Aubrey, 30, from Long Island City and Morgan, 30, from the West Village

Why they're single:
Aubrey: Needs to feel really strongly about someone in order to commit to a relationship
Morgan: Just hasn’t met the one yet

Ideal date:
Aubrey: Drinks,
a little food and
then a walk
Morgan: Drinks and dinner in her neighborhood, somewhere with outdoor seating or on  the water

THE DATE

First impression
Aubrey: “She had a big smile on her face, which made me happy, and seemed to know
how to accessorize. She seemed confident in her own skin.”
Morgan: “He was tall and cute, but he had a loud booming voice, which made me uncomfortable because I don’t like it when other people can hear my conversation.”

Chemistry
Aubrey: “I’ve never had a proper blind date before, but she was thoroughly engaging and we were both really in the moment together. There was a lot of good eye contact.”
Morgan: “Nothing was really telling me that he was so interesting. I want someone more settled in their career, and I didn’t like that he
hadn’t finished college.”

Awkward Moment
Aubrey: “We shook hands at the end. It felt weird, but it was a tight space so standing up for a hug would have been logistically weird. There were no great options.”
Morgan: “I was drinking faster than him, but I didn’t want to stay for another. So I kept having to tell the waitress I didn’t want anything else. She asked like five times.”

Afterward
Aubrey: “She wanted to exchange emails, which felt so businesslike, so I suggested Facebook. She told me, ‘You’re not undateable.’ And I said, ‘You are very much the same.’”
Morgan: “I left and he stayed to have dinner. I felt bad that he was eating alone. He Facebook-friended me and messaged me to say it was the best blind date he’d ever been on.”

Verdict
Aubrey: ♥♥♥♥♥ “The only negative is that I would have liked more time. In terms of the kind of girl I hope to date, she fits the bill well. I wouldn’t be against seeing her again.”
Morgan: ♥♥ “He was nice, but I don’t
want to go on another date. I didn’t feel like we connected on a deeper level. There weren’t really any sparks.”

Our daters went to County (34 E 20th St, 212-677-7771).
