New bike lanes are headed to Bushwick—help choose where!

Cyclists of Bushwick, take heed: The Department of Transportation is putting new bike lanes in, and they want your input!

Take the Bushwick Bicycle Survey to recommend up to 10 streets you'd like to cycle on, as long as they're within Districts 34 or 37, or covered by Community Board 4. The survey also allows you to give input on whether there's enough bike locks in your part of the neighborhood and name any intersections or storefronts that could use more bike parking. Air those grievances!

NYC DOT Bicycle Program rep Inbar Kishoni told Bushwick Daily: “We know that cycling has a long history in Bushwick. From the recreational riders in the Schwinn Club to those who commute for work, many Bushwick residents are choosing to move around by bike. There are also many people who ride because they have no other choice–it is the most convenient and cheapest option."

You might not be biking so much in this frigid weather, but just imagine that sweet, sweaty blacktop of summer to come...
