One of the greatest perks of being a New Yorker is getting to see our beautiful city serve as the backdrop for some of the best movies and shows of all time. And with so many of them being filmed around us constantly, it's likely that if you live here long enough, you will eventually stumble across a set in action. Now, thanks to a new set of maps created by Renthop, fans looking to get that coveted behind-the-scenes look may have a slightly better idea of when and where they might come across the set of upcoming movies and shows.

According to data compiled from film permit data between 2012-2016 (available via the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre, and Broadcasting), the number one zipcode for TV shows is the Financial District, followed by Greenpoint (Girls, Boardwalk Empire) and the Civic Center (dun dun, Law & Order). For movies, the top location was also the Financial District (that Batman vs. Bane fight scene on Wall Street, anyone?), along with Penn Station and Hell's Kitchen.

The report also revealed that the most popular month for film crews in the city is June, while TV shows, which follow a different schedule, are shot primarily in October. Browse through the maps below to see if you live near a popular filming location.
