New York could be getting two inches of snow this weekend

If you’ve stepped outside at all today, you know that winter has most definitely returned to New York. It feels as cold as 5 to 10 degrees outside today with wind chill, and the arctic blast that’s descended on the region is producing some powerful wind gusts.

A High Wind Warning was issued by the National Weather Service from 6pm tonight until 6am tomorrow morning. If you venture outside tonight, you can expect sustained winds of 20-30 mph and gusts in excess of 50-60mph. So definitely tip your delivery guy extra.

That chilly weather is sticking around for a while as well thanks to a pair of two cold fronts, and Saturday could see up to two inches of snow fall on the city as a result of Winter Storm Decima. That snow will most likely turn to rain by Saturday afternoon, creating some pretty treacherous road conditions.

There’s light at the end of this freezing tunnel, however. Temperatures should once again be approaching 60 degrees on Sunday.
