New York is being overrun by tourist hordes

There’s no escaping. They’re already here!

58.3 million tourists, a record amount, visited NYC in 2015. This year, the city’s official tourism-marketing agency, NYC & Company, is predicting that 59.7 million out-of-towners will be infiltrating the five boroughs. That’s a 2.4 percent increase. We never had a chance.

The growing number is on pace with Mayor de Blasio’s goal of reaching 67 million annual visitors by 2021. This year in particular, has been declared “US-China tourism year” with the city aiming for an 8.2 percent increase in Chinese tourists alone, raising the total number to 920,000. China is only the fourth-largest source of visitors to the city after England, Canada and Brazil.

So by 2025, expect Times Square to basically just be a giant mosh pit.
