New Yorkers held an impromptu graduation ceremony for a student stuck on the subway

There's not much of a difference between sitting on a delayed subway and attending a college graduation: you can't move, nobodies feel the need to stand up and talk about life and there's way too much polyester. For Hunter College nursing student Jerich Marco Alcantara, the two experiences converged yesterday morning when severe delays on a morning E train caused him to miss his own commencement ceremony at Hunter's Brookdale campus. 

Fortunately, with friends and a gaggle down-for-whatever subway riders by his side, Alcantara was able to stage his own private ceremony underground. While one friend presented the grad with a digital diploma on his phone, another played Green Day's "Time Of Your Life." Soon, the whole train formed a private audience for the robed passenger.
