See a movie for free with this new app

With radioactive popcorn butter, theaters with no air conditioning, and the looming possibility of bed bugs in the seats, who among us doesn't just love going to the movies in New York? As box office rates continue to drop and viewers cleave to Netflix (and to their window units), movie theaters are aggressively trying new options to make the moviegoing experience more bearable, and some of them aren't so bad.

The Atom Tickets app, which launched today on IOS and Android, streamlines the ticketing and concessions process the way that Uber and Lyft simplified picking up a cab. The app syncs with your credit card and contacts and allows you to pick a movie, theater and time with a few swipes, choose your popcorn or drinks in advance, and even invite friends along to the same showing. Once you've selected your movie and snacks, tickets are texted to you and you can pick everything up directly, no lines required.

Atom is offering a free first ticket to all new users, which gives you a way to see Suicide Squad without actually wasting your money. You can learn more about Atom here or download the Atom Tickets app on IOS or Android.
