Earlier this week, Upper West Side Councilmember Helen Rosenthal introduced a new program that can only be described as our generation’s Hogwarts: the NYC Rat Academy.

In case you haven’t yet received an acceptance letter from a surprisingly obsequious rodent, the Rat Academy is a free program being offered by Rosenthal and Community Board 7 for building supers, homeowners, tenants, businesses and anyone else who might want to learn a helpful trick or two when it comes to rat prevention. So… basically every New Yorker.

The free educational session will take place on Thursday, September 28 at Redeemer Presbyterian Church (150 West 83rd St) and anyone interested in attending is encouraged to RSVP at (212) 873-0282 x203 or mmaack@council.nyc.gov.

Still on the fence? Well, just FYI, all participants who attend the full session on the 28th will be eligible to enter a raffle for a rodent-resistant garbage can. Even Aunt Petunia couldn’t object to that.
