It's been a big month for food hall news: celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain just got the go-ahead for his massive market at Pier 57, the Port Authority Bus Terminal is getting an upscale food court and now Staten Island is up next with an artisanal food hall located on the North Shore waterfront. Set to open in 2017, the Marketplace at Empire Outlets will be a part of a larger, 340,000 square-foot retail complex by BFC Partners with stores like H&M, Nordstrom Rack and Ghirardelli Chocolates.

Staten Island already boasts its share of fine restaurants (including the Time Out New York Battle of the Burger 2015 champion Standard Burger), but this food hall will be the borough's first multi-vendor culinary venue. Though food operators have yet to be announced, Gansevoort Market alums Manny Del Castillo and Jamie Hinojos have been tasked with curating the lineup.
