This weather suuuuucks. But that doesn’t mean you have to start your summer off on the wrong foot. Grab an umbrella, throw on a light coat and brave the rain-slicked streets at one of these five events this week. And best of all? They’re all completely free.  And inside. I mean, what else do you want?

Secret Science Club; The Bell House, Gowanus, 7:30pm. June 2
This is a science lecture for people who hate science. Pick up a “Quantum Theory” cocktail, dance to “out of this world” tunes and listen to theoretical physicist Leonard Mlodinow basically explain the entire universe to you. If you can't think of a good pick-up line at an event like this, you're not even trying.

Cakeshop Comedy; Cake Shop. Lower East Side. 7:30pm. June 2
Host (and very human) John Early is joined by Mike Lawrence, Kristine Levine, Jono Zalay, Guy Branum and Max Silvestri at this comedy showcase. Hit up the basement bar tonight for drinks, food, jokes and vinyl. Also, laughter is a great coping mechanism for dealing with a week’s worth of weather straight out of a Tim Burton film.

Global Fashion Capitals; The Museum at FIT. Midtown, Noon-8pm. June 3
Stop by this brand-new exhibition to see examples of distinctive clothing from “fashion cities” around the world. The show explores the four major established fashion capitals—Paris, New York, Milan and London—as well as the emergence of 16 new fashion cities. It’s like a glamorous, one-hour staycation!

Simpsons Trivia; Berry Park, Greenpoint, 7pm. June 4
How much do you really know about the animated residents of Springfield? To find out, head to Berry Park this Thursday for three rounds of trivia about America's favorite cartoon family. BYODoughnuts.

Fluent CityVideology, Williamsburg, 7pm. June 4
Let’s be honest, If there’s anything in New York that you probably should be doing on a rainy Thursday, it’s attending a small screening of a whimsical, French romance. The June edition of Videology’s language-learning series features Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s A Very Long Engagement.
