The High Line to stay open late, get lit for one night this summer

Did we say "lit?" We meant "lit up." On Thursday, July 21, the High Line will stay open for one scandalous extra hour past its usual 11pm closing time (what shame!) as DJs, performers and dancers in illuminated glowing lanterns take over.

The Up Late event invites you to take a romantic stroll and peruse some of NYC's best outdoor art while six separate performance pieces go down around you. Pieces include: a miniature throwdown from MOTHER club and the Jackie party; a viral dance party led by DJ Average Jo; a flashlight-led musical excursion through the Chelsea Grasslands by Merche Blasco; and Carte Blanche Performances' Ox Prowl, which leaves you in the hands of mysterious lantern-clad performers. If you've been complaining of late that the High Line is a tourist trap, then perhaps this night of pure performative weirdness will restore your faith.

The first Up Late event is on Thursday, July 21 10pm–midnight on the High Line between Gansevoort and W 18th Street. You can learn more about the event and performers here
